The RCMP Lower Mainland District (LMD) and Integrated Teams cover 30,969 square kilometres from Pemberton to Boston Bar and as far south as the United States border. The LMD polices a diverse geographic area that includes international borders, mountains and bodies of water within urban and rural settings. The LMD has 13 detachments in 28 communities with over 3,500 employees serving 1.8 million people. Numerous Indigenous communities are also served by the LMD RCMP.
Five integrated teams are supported within the LMD and includes the Integrated Homicide Investigative Team (IHIT), Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team (LMD ERT), Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS), LMD Integrated Forensic Identification Service (LMD IFIS) and the Lower Mainland District Police Dog Service (LMD PDS). These teams also include five municipal partners: Abbotsford, Delta, New Westminster, Port Moody and West Vancouver.
Each detachment commander reports to the local council and works with citizens to establish and prioritize law enforcement objectives. Our employees also work daily with our counterparts in the many municipal and provincial police agencies within the LMD. We are connected to our communities, to community leaders, to social services, to support groups, to school boards and to citizens.
The Lower Mainland District and Integrated Teams are a mix of police officers and civilians who are committed to our communities and to meeting policing needs to ensure a safe Canada.
