Fort St John RCMP investigate stolen trophy antlers, animal hides and ammunition

On Friday, February 9, 2024, the Fort St John RCMP received a report of residential break and enter to an abandoned property located on the 8200 block of 98 Street, Fort St John, BC.

Fort St John RCMP frontline police officers attended and found the rear door had been kicked in and various items stolen from the residence including 14 mule deer and whitetail antlers, 1 cinnamon coloured black bear hide, 1 grey coloured wolf hide, 1 mountain sheep hide, 1 mountain goat hide and boxes of .22 calibre ammunition. The antlers are in a European mount style, some with full skull others with only partial, attached to a metal wall mount stand.

This collection represents years of trophy hunts and fond memories to the family, said Constable Chad Neustaeter, Media Relations Officer for the Fort St John RCMP. Any assistance the public can provide in potentially recovering these items would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone from the public observed anything suspicious in the area of 8200 block of 98 Street or has seen or heard anything about someone who has a new collection of antlers and hides or is trying to sell some, please reach out to your local detachment.
